Football /popstar crossover fans can breathe a sigh of relief this afternoon, as it’s emerged that part-time singer and full-time babe Louis Tomlinson WILL be coming back to play for Doncaster Rovers at some point in the future.
Hurrah! We knew that purchasing a 5-year season ticket would prove to be a reliable investment in the end.
Our favourite bit of tackle in One Direction will be joining the squad for a special ‘testimonial match’.
Now, for those who get an anxiety attack at the very mention of the words ‘offside rule’, a testimonial match is when the club has a game to honour a member for some particular service to the club – in this case, midfielder James Coppinger.
Yeah, us neither – but we’re sure he’s a lovely chap.
According to The Sun, Lou-Lou has agreed to captain a side on April 19th (GET IT IN YER DIARY, FOLKS) to celebrate this fella James’ 400th appearance at the club.
And as if you didn’t think the news could get any better – well hold onto your knickers ladies, as it’s thought that none other than Mullingar’s finest, Niall Horan, could be joining bandmate Louis.
A source told the paper: “Louis has become good mates with James over the last few years and was keen to play a part in his testimonial.”
“He’s been pestering Niall to get involved in it too and wants him to join his team.”
Louis tried and failed to buy the club last year after attempting to raise the money through a crowd-funder scheme with businessman John Ryan.
Sadly for Louis, the singer’s pledge was thrown out by the Football League.
Anyway, at least he still gets to have a kick-about with his mates, eh?
