One Direction‘s appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden didn’t just involve chucking their balls around – they also spoke about Zayn Malik leaving the band, of course.
Giving their first interview as a fully-fledged four piece (still not ready), the boys admitted that they never once thought about splitting up (THANK GOODNESS), and that things are all good between the five of them.
Even between Louis Tomlinson and Maliko, after *that* Twitter spat.
And all is right in the world again. Sort of.
James, 36, had to breach the inevitable subject of Zayn’s departure with the boys, and asked Luigi if they’ve been in contact with their former bandmate at all.
He replied: “Yeah, there’s been a bit of back and forth. I think we are on good terms with him.”
Of course, THAT Twitter drama reared it’s ugly head again but luckily, Lou was on hand to reassure us that everything is a-okay.
He explained: “I have never have been good at biting me tongue I think I get it from me mum. It’s just one of those things.
“Twitter’s great for connecting with the fans, but also if you feel like saying something that you probably shouldn’t, it’s also good for that as well.
“It has resolved. It’s all good in the hood.”
James went on to ask Liam Payne how the boys felt when Zayn told them he was off, to which El Payno replied: “It’s like anything – at first, we were a little bit angry, we were surprised, but I think we all knew the general vibe Zayn was feeling.
“There’s certain parts of this job that Zayn loved, and certain parts he didn’t. If you don’t like your job, you have to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go. We were angry at first but then it was a bit more disappointed.
“We wish him the best of luck with whatever he gets up to. There’s no hard feelings.”
N’awww. We ruddy love this lot, y’know.
Niall Horan also denied that they’d ever thought about calling it a day, explaining: “The four of us love every part of it. The shows have been great and the fans deserve it. They’ve been absolutely fantastic to us.”
All before Harry Styles broke James’ heart by telling him he was never considered as a fifth member. Poor James.
As well as discussing the heart-breaking Zayn issues, the band were also asked about the incredible ‘No Control’ project Directioners have started, with Louis bursting with pride as he described it as “pretty incredible.”
HURRAH. Amazing work, everyone! <3
The band also revealed that their fifth album would be released around “September or October” (diaries ahoy), Louis admitted that he’s a “secret gypsy” because he prefers sleeping on the tour bus, and Hazza got people to blow his saxophone.
What a day to be alive.
Three cheers for James Corden and his awesome interview. Hip hip, HOORAY.
