Including JLS, it would seem.

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity, Oritsé admitted his former band mates were surprised by the revelation.

He told us: “The boys are more surprised that I’d done something so unexpected. Absolutely nobody knew. Everyone found out the day I put it online.

Oritsé explained that in order to create his best work, he needed to shut himself away from the world.

“When I’m creating I sort of go into this hibernating mode,” he said. “I don’t like to have people saying ‘what are you working on, what are you doing?’ That interrupts my creative process. I like to go away and be able to create in the dark and eventually bring it to light. “

A method that seems to be working – with OWS catching the attentions of Jay-Z and Kanye West.

“It’s humbling as it’s all down to them engaging with what I’m doing musically,” Oritsé admitted.

“They don’t know my history, all they know is what they’ve heard from me. What gives me confidence is that these are people at the top of the music industry and have been my idols for years.”

As to why he decided to keep his identity a secret for so long, Oritsé admits that he wanted people to purely judge his music, not him.

“I just didn’t want anybody to have a preconception about what I was doing, he explained. “For me it was just about letting my artistry lead first and giving my artistry and music a chance. I’m not driven by fame, I just want people to enjoy the music first.”
