Oscars 2015: Lady Gaga And Julie Andrews Share An Emotional Hug After Gaga’s Sound Of Music Tribute

Lady Gaga and Julie Andrews could be about to form the most unexpected and beautiful friendship of all time after sharing a big hug following Gaga’s amazing Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars 2015.

Okay, so *maybe* they won’t both be donning wacky washing up gloves and singing ‘My Favourite Things’ around each other’s houses, but judging by how much Julie was thankful for Gaga’s tribute, we reckon some sort of friendship is a-brewing.

We hope so, anyway.

Ditching the washing up gloves and taking to the stage in a gorgeous white Azzedine Alaia gown, the 28-year-old singer belted out all the classics from the film in which 79-year-old Julie originally played Maria von Trapp.

She looks flippin’ marvellous for 79, doesn’t she?

As part of the tribute for the film’s 50th anniversary, Lady pleased the audience and fans watching at home with traditional performances of ‘The Hills Are Alive’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Climb Ev’ry mountain‘ and ‘Edelweiss’.

The legendary Julie joined Lady Gaga onstage after her incredible performance, embracing the singer in an emotional bear hug and thanking her for the fitting tribute.

She said: “It’s hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since that joyous film was released. I blinked and suddenly here I am!

“Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. It really warmed my heart.

“I think that I do speak for everyone connected to the movie when I say, we all really felt blessed to be a part of it. And as for me, well, how lucky can a girl get?”

Back in 1966, the original film won five Oscar Awards for best picture, best director, best song, best film editing and best score.

So there’s some trivia for your next pub quiz.

Gaga did hint at a tirbute to the famous film on Twitter as she got ready to take to the stage, writing: “Backstage getting ready for my performance! Tonight my heart will be blessed…with the sound of… #Oscars.”

BRAVO on a ruddy amazing performance Gaga.

Oh, and a lot of people also want Gaga in a Princess Diaries 3 now, since she’s been hugged by the Queen of absolutely everything, and we’re totally down with that.

The hills are alive with the sound of friendship etc etc.
