It was hoped it would be just the thing to raise her spirits.
Pixie Geldof decided to miss this year’s Glastonbury fearing that it would be ‘too painful’ without her sister Peaches who died unexpectedly in April.
Pixie is usually a festival regular however stayed at home this year thinking it too soon since her older sibling’s death.
A source explained to The Sun: “Pixie and Peaches had been to the festival a number of times and had had a lot of fun together. Her best mates thought it could cheer her up and Pixie agreed. But as the date came closer, she realised she just wasn’t up to it.”
It was reported to be planned that the 23-year-old would be at the festival with her friends Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung.
Peaches died aged just 25 on April 7 and later toxicology reported showed that heroin was involved in her death.
She left behind two children, 2-year-old Astala and one-year-old Pheadra and a husband Thomas Cohen.
Her final interview was published last week in which she talks about heroin and the ‘internal core pain that all users experience’.
In a conversation with American writer William Todd Schultz for Spectator Life, Peaches is noted as saying: “All heroin users have the same core internal pain. It’s a fascinating concept – drug of choice.”
William Todd Schultz compiled his article using Twitter, phone and text message conversations he had with Peaches the month before she died.
At the time of speaking it was not public knowledge that Peaches was a user herself and reading the quotes now they can be seen in a totally different light.
