We were pretty disappointed when Rita Ora seemingly failed to show up alongside Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson and the rest of the Fifty Shades of Grey cast at last night’s London premiere, despite being in town.
Was it because of an alleged rift between Rita and the film’s team? Was she off at another fancy party that we didn’t manage to nab an invite to? Was she busy celebrating another 90 second film cameo? (We’re not sure if that exists but whatever).
No, actually. She was in bed, presuming relaxing after flying in from America just a few days ago.
Chilling in a warm cosy bed > Freezing your tits off on a red carpet. Except it was a red carpet that was touched by Jamie Dornan so PRIORITIES.
Yep, instead of rubbing shoulders with her castmates, the 24-year-old decided to watch Little Shop of Horrors at home, which we guess figures since some people might call Christian’s red room a little room of horrors.
SEE WHAT WE DID THERE.
The singer may play Christian’s sister Mia in the film, but it’s been revealed that she actually only has three lines in the film, one of which is in French.
Did she perhaps decided that a 90 second role wasn’t red carpet worthy? Kinda makes sense, becaue we’re not sure we’d turn up for a premiere of the nativity we said one line in when we were four.
BUT, she’s still got a role in a HUGE film, so she should be proud of that.
What’s also weird is that she actually tweeted the above, hinting that she WOULD be attending the premiere because she sounded pretty excited about it. CONFUSED.
Still, Rita recently posted a photo of the 50 Shades private screening she attended, so she probably didn’t fancy rocking up to watch herself for 90 seconds again.
We’ve just lost ourselves in a tunnel of thoughts. Thankfully, despite all the jokes and speculation, a source has cleared up the explanation behind Rita’s no-show.
They told The Mirror: “Rita was rehearsing as her appearance on Graham Norton was a performance of her new single with Charli XCX.
“Jamie was only being interviewed, so he didn’t need to rehearse.”
So now you know.
Last year, Rita also spoke to OK! Magazine about her teeny tiny film cameo, saying that she didn’t really care what everyone thought because she enjoyed the experience.
She said: “Everyone is going to have their own opinions. But for me this was such a great cameo to be involved in, and even though I’m only in it for a little bit, it’s opened the door to a lot of movie things that I haven’t actually announced yet.
“I have the bug, for real. Fifty Shades was a moment of cameo and a really good wake-up call.”
Perhaps she just missed her wake-up call for last night’s premiere? ALRIGHT WE’LL STOP.
Anyway, we missed Rita last night and we reckon she does a ruddy good job in the film.
Let’s just hope she maybe gets a few more lines in the next film. French or English.
