It would seem that Simon Cowell was hell bent on appointing Rita Ora to this year’s X Factor panel – even agreeing to meet her under the cover of darkness to secure her place at on this year’s judges’ desk.
Speaking to The Sun about her *slightly* controversial move from rival talent show The Voice, the 24-year-old revealed that due to hers and the 54-year-old music mogul’s hectic schedule, the two were forced to meet at midnight to discuss the job.
“We had to fly out to Los Angles to finish my album the next day and he was working on Britain’s Got Talent at the time,” she revealed.
“I had a lot of questions and he did too. But it just fit into place perfectly. And the time commitment worked perfectly for me.
“What made it special was when Simon asked me about X Factor, he told me about his plans for the show and how he was going to change it up.”
Rita, who is joined by pal Nick Grimshaw on this year’s panel, also revealed that she talked through joining the show with the BBC Radio One DJ before signing on the dotted line.
“He’s my friend, I value his opinion so I obviously asked,” she said.
The ‘Poison’ singer also shut down any rumours of a rivalry with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini before they even begun, insisting that the two will be supporting each other.
“You see pop stars supporting each other more,” she said. “Plus, I had only met Cheryl once before. But she is very hot and pretty.”
