We doubt Simon Cowell will be too happy to hear this.
Rita Ora has reportedly signed a six-figure deal with the BBC to replace Kylie Minogue on The Voice UK.
Well she does have a bit of spare time on her hands now that her second album has reportedly been delayed thanks to a certain ex.
According to The Mirror, the 23-year-old singer is set to take home a cool £1 million for her stint on the show.
A sneaky show insider revealed: “Rita is the pop star of the moment, the Beeb are delighted. They think she’s going to be a ratings hit and even more popular than Kylie.
“It has taken months of negotiations but Rita is happy and thinks the show is a much better fit for her than The X Factor.
“She’ll still be able to get on with her music and it won’t take over her life as much as The X Factor.”
Fair play to her, we say.
And it looks like Rita will be in the company of familiar Voice favourites, as Tom Jones, will.i.am, and Ricky Wilson are all expected to return.
“It is pretty set in stone that Will, Ricky and Tom will return. They are very much up for being on the panel and they’ve all met Rita, so they are delighted,” the source added.
It was reported earlier this year that Simon Cowell had offered Rita the same amount of money to appear on rival show The X Factor with the singer politely declining.
A source said at the time: “Rita was formally offered the X Factor job and was very flattered, but turned it down.
“She is out in LA at the moment, having meetings, making contacts and working hard in the studio.
“Rita is bringing out a new album this summer – so that’s her priority.”
Seems like her priorities changed.
So how will Rita fair as a coach? Well, from what we’ve witnessed from her guest stint on The X Factor in 2012, she’s got an eye for talent.
Without Rita, there would be no Rylan.
That’s good enough reason for us. Welcome to the world of TV Talent shows, Rita!
