Selena Gomez’s New Video, ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’, Has Landed – And It’s Emosh

Selena Gomez really puts her years of acting experience to good use in the brand new video for her emosh single ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’.

Obviously meaning a lot to her, the 22-year-old proudly tweeted out a link to the vid alongside the message: “I have been waiting to share this with all of you…”

Opting for an arty, black-and-white theme, the video opens with an emotional monologue from the former Disney star, as she gushes about heartache and dastardly boys – promptly cueing the Justin Bieber comparisons.

Fighting back tears, Selena reveals: “When I was on stage and I was thinking of…I felt like I know…I know him, though, and I know his heart and I know what he wouldn’t do to hurt me.

“But I didn’t realize that feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself and then [to have] it just be completely shattered by one thing, by something so stupid.

“But then you make me feel crazy, you make me feel like it’s my fault. I was in pain.”

Not the most articulate, but beautiful just the same.

The rest of the video sees Selena crying (a lot) and getting all kinds of emosh, or cozying up to a bad boy as she sings about not being in control of who she loves.

Hmm, is it just us or has Sel’s taken pointers from BFF Taylor Swift when it comes to not-so-subtley slamming your ex-beaus?

The Bieber hints are BLINDING.

The song is clearly important to the pop princess, with her previously taking to MazSight to share a photo of herself having a listening session of her brand new album, which the song will be featuring on.

She posted the snap alongside the caption: “As I have a last listen, I thought a lot about my year. I thought a lot about my voice. And after a year of holding on. I think it’s time to start sharing. #November”

And boy, does she share.

Once we got over the outstanding Justin connotations, we have to admit that the video is pretty darn stunning and the song is pretty darn catchy – we’re sure it’ll only be a matter of time before heartbroken girls everywhere are listening to it on repeat as they sob into their industrial tub of ice cream and send texts that they will come to regret.

Selena, babes, you totally get us.

And we love you for it.
