So it’s no major surprise that Simon Cowell is trying to recreate One Direction‘s RIDIC success on the new series of the X Factor… by making a rival band!

Really not sure how we feel about this!

Copying his own (pretty awesome) band-forming concept from 2010, the music mogul has put together EIGHT boys at this year’s boot camp and turned them into one mega-band.

That’s EIGHT boys. In ONE band.

Obviously out to emulate the phenomenon that is 1D, Si has rounded up eight super talents solo contestants and merged them.

He told The Mirror: “There’s so many four piece bands, five piece bands, three piece bands- to see eight talented guys because the sound of your vocals together on the chorus, it’s like I’ve never heard this before from a group like this.”

Er – hope you’re not forgetting about the 1D lads, Si!

It seems that the super group came about because they was just SO MUCH blimmin’ talent in this year’s show.

A insider told The Sun: “The boys were the strongest category by far at boot camp and it really hurt the judges to say goodbye to so much talent.

“In the end they decided to make the extra boys into one big group. Between the eight of them they’ve got everything they need to be a success.”

The source added: “The boys have been told to go away and gel. They really need to find an identity they can all agree on and to become friends.

“One Direction might have been manufactured but it worked because they were friends and they went in as equals and none of them have huge egos. This new band needs to find the same thing.”

Whatever happens, no band will EVER replace our lads!
