Simon Cowell certainly knows how to push Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s buttons, and we have a feeling his latest comments will no doubt get her back up.
The 55-year-old X Factor boss has branded the 31-year-old beauty’s new surname as ‘ridiculous’, calling for her to simply go by Cheryl from now on.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, the man who hasn’t changed his haircut in 25 years explained: “To be quite frank I think it’s time for Cheryl to do the Madonna thing and ditch the surname. 100 per cent.
“It’s a ridiculous name – so let’s just use ‘Cheryl’ from now on.”
Hmmm, is that a whiff of fancy surname jealously we smell in the air? Or perhaps he’s just annoyed because he’s not quite sure how to spell Fernandez-Versini?
However, it wasn’t all bad mouthing from Mr Cowell, he also decided to throw Chez a bone by complimenting her on her X Factor judging this year.
How very kind of him :/
Simon said: “It’s like a completely different Cheryl this year. I think right now we’re starting to see the real Cheryl. Finally.
“She’s not going to be a pushover and up until now she’s been as good as gold.
“If you watch any of the shows back, you just sit there and think, ‘Christ, she’s good.’ She gets it and she’s not precious.”
High praise indeed. But it’s probably going to take more than that to make up for the surname dig, Si.
