Is Simon Cowell set to do the unthinkable and ditch Cheryl Fernandez-Versini from the X Factor for the second time?
According to reports, the 55-year-old music mogul is currently in talks with possible replacement candidates for the 31-year-old singer.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Simon has seen people himself and it is now going to ITV and they are setting up meetings with his chosen women for a second interview.”
This news comes after Richard Holloway, X Factor’s executive producer, admitted that there would be an almighty shake-up ahead of this year’s series in a bid to claw back ratings.
He said: “We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show.
“You need to look at every aspect and move with the times. There is an ongoing battle with Strictly [Come Dancing]. On overall volume they beat us last year. It has been a few years since we beat them on overall volume.”
The first big change to confirmed so far is the departure of host Dermot O’Leary, who had fronted the show for eight years.
But it isn’t only Cheryl’s seat that could be in jeopardy after it was reported last week that Louis ‘I’ll Never Leave’ Walsh’s time could finally be up.
And it would seem that none other than Robbie Williams is set to replace him.
A show insider told The Daily Star: “Simon Cowell is planning major changes for this year’s X Factor and one of them is getting rid of Louis.
“It is not 100% finalised yet but Simon knows he needs to make the show current and credible and Louis no longer ticks that box.
“It is hard for him personally as they are great friends. But the decision is all but done.”
The cut throat world of showbiz, eh?
