The music industry was left reeling from the sad news this week.
And just a few days after it was revealed that G.R.L singer Simone Battle had tragically killed herself, it has emerged that she was ‘depressed over money issues.’
The former X Factor star, who was on the brink of chart success with the girlband’s new single, was reportedly struggling with her finances.
TMZ reports that Simone’s friends and family told authorities that the 25-year-old was ‘depressed’ over money and was constantly worried that she’d never ‘make it big.’
But her family were reportedly miffed at Simone’s financial woes as the band had just completed a successful tour.
Despite the fact that the girls were becoming better known overseas, Simone was reportedly frustrated by their lack of success in the US.
The star struggled to achieve mainstream success after she was booted off the US X Factor back in 2011, later releasing a solo single.
In 2013 she joined five-piece girl group G.R.L. and the band released their first single ‘Ugly Heart’ in the UK last Sunday – and it is taking the charts by storm.
X Factor judge Simon Cowell lead the tributes to Simone as the news of her death emerged, tweeting: “I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away.
“She was such a fun nice person. It’s such a loss. Rest in peace Simone.”
Simone was found hanged in her West Hollywood home by her boyfriend in the early hours of Saturday, after seeing her just four hours earlier.
Sending all our love to her friends and family.
