Strictly Come Dancing 2014: Claudia Winkleman Returns To A Standing Ovation

The best fringe in the business is BACK, ladies and gents.

Strictly Come Dancing was back to normal last night as host Claudia Winkleman returned to the show following a three week absence.

The 42-year-old presenter was greeted by a standing ovation from the audience, with co-host Tess Daly quick to throw an arm around her in a display of sisterly love.

The star was left devastated when her young daughter, Matilda, suffered serious burns after her Halloween costume caught fire whilst trick-or-treating.

Since then, Claudia was given ‘indefinite leave’ from the show as she kept a vigil at her daughter’s hospital bed with It Takes Two presenter, Zoe Ball, standing in for her on the live weekends.

Upon her return, Claudia said that it was “wonderful” to be back and thanked Zoe for covering for her, however, it wasn’t long before the quirky personality was back to her old self, joking about Tess bringing her back a donkey from last week’s Strictly special in Blackpool.

“I’m not even joking, I have a real donkey,” she quipped.

Never change, Claudes.

The mum-of-three announced her return to the hit show last week, taking to Twitter to thank the NHS staff who have been taking care of Matilda and warning Strictly viewers that she might be a little “out of practice”.

She wrote: “Hello Twitter. Firstly a huge thank you to the incredible NHS doctors and nurses who have been extraordinary.

“We are bowled over by their kindness and brilliance. Matilda is doing well and although it will be a long road to recovery, she is getting the best possible care.

“Thank you so much for your lovely comments – they meant everything. I’m coming back to Striclty this weekend but am out of practice so please bear with me.”

Well, we think that she did a fab job.

And we’re glad that little Matilda is on the road to recovery.
