After previous rumours that Ola Jordan was thinking of leaving Strictly Come Dancing to start a family with husband James, it’s today being reported that she’s instead leaving to pursue a career on Channel Four.
Of course she is.
After the bullying claims that have plagued her for a large proportion of the series, it’s claimed that Ola is off to start anew on a completely different TV channel.
Because that’s the only logical solution, CLEARLY.
Ola’s husband James, 36, left the show last year after claims of foul play and unfair treatment on BBC’s side, and it hasn’t exactly been the easiest series for 32-year-old Ola after reports she’s a meanie pants in training. It makes sense then that they’d want to flee some place new.
After eight years on the BBC show, it looks like Channel Four now want to sign up both Ola and James, with Ola rumoured to take part in The Jump next year.
Errr, didn’t know they were even making a new series of that but COOL.
According to a TV source for The Sun, the couple would be signed on a two-year “golden handcuff” deal, before Ola starts her new career as a, erm, skier.
The source explained: “Ola leaving Strictly will come as a huge blow to the show. She hasn’t been the most popular dancer in recent weeks and there have been some problems, but she is still one of the best professionals on the show.
“She has been there since 2006 and won the whole thing with Chris Hollins in 2009, so she will be a big loss.
“Ola’s become disillusioned with working for the BBC and she and James want to do their own thing.
“Channel Four are offering them a really good package. She’s going to do the Jump at the start of next year and they are lining up a dance reality show for them to star in.
“They feel they will get far more creative control than they had at the Beeb — and they are definitely going to earn a hell of a lot more cash.”
OH CRUMBS. A bloody dance show rival?! What will it be called – So You Think You Can Do The Tango On A Ski Slope?!
Ola’s position as one of the favourite professional dancers on the show has come under a bit of attack this series, after her partner Steve Backshall accused her of bullying in the training room. Crikey.
A source told The Daily Mail: “Steve is a very bouncy personality, up for any challenge, but Ola’s harsh treatment has flattened him and made him lose confidence – she was very rude and impatient when he found it difficult to master the shapes for last Saturday’s Charleston – and her choreography and tuition was so tough, Steve resorted to asking other people to show him what he had to do.”
Not ideal really, is it?
The source went on, saying that: “Ola is a cold and very distant personality, who refuses to mix with Steve’s family and friends.”
We’d kinda like to see her and James attempt some sort of Charleston in the middle of a ski slope whilst skiing/snowboarding/singing please.
In fact, you can have that idea for free, Channel Four. Just give us some credit, please. Thanks.
