Strictly Come Dancing‘s Brendan Cole has spoken up to defend himself after his ex-fiancée Camilla Dallerup opened up on the ‘hurtful’ sudden ending to their eight-year relationship.
Despite their relationship potentially being the start of the now infamous ‘Strictly Curse,’ Brendan brushed off Camilla’s words and insisted that he’s moved on from it all now, so there.
Fair play, Brendan.
Camilla wasn’t shy in describing exactly what happened during that period of her life, and how it left her ‘broken,’ but her ex-fiancé seems to be taking all the allegations in his stride, speaking out to explain that he’s totally over it and is quite happy thank you very much.
Talking to Mirror Celeb, he admitted: “It’s nothing really new to me.
“It was a long time a go, I’m happily married with a child, so is she, she’s a married woman.
“I live now, not ten years ago.”
We still want to give Camilla a great big bear hug, but we’re also pretty impressed that 38-year-old Brendan managed to keep his cool and give a response that seems pretty subdued.
Even if there is a massive hint from Brendan that he’d quite like her to MOVE ON please.
Last week, Camilla spoke to The Mirror about how the sudden and very public ending to her long-term relationship with the professional dancer was ‘hurtful’, and admitted that there were times when she just felt like she was “crying inside” during Strictly.
However, she revealed to the paper that even before the live shows she had suspected something might develop between Brendan and his celebrity partner Natasha Kaplinsky.
She said: “We were introduced to our respective partners. Brendan was over the moon. He literally skipped through the door when he came home and that was the moment I lost Brendan.
“…Suddenly his thoughts were elsewhere. I had this terrible foreboding something awful was about to happen…he’d lost interest in talking to me – but he was more than happy to get up in the morning to watch her reading the morning news.
“To this day I have no idea whether it was her fame and celebrity that swept him away or if he really did feel a strong connection with her. I’m guessing it was probably a bit of both. It felt as if the fact that we’d just got engaged meant nothing to either of them”.
Yikes. Natasha has always maintained that there was no relationship between her and her professional partner, but it seems Camilla isn’t so convinced.
Camilla is now happily married to the very fit actor Kevin Sacre from Hollyoaks, so hopefully she can continue to move on from her heartbreaking past and away from the drama.
