When Susanna Reid and Dominic Cotton parted ways after earlier this year, we assumed the Good Morning Britain presented might want to put a fair amount of distance between her and her ex.
Particularly since news of their split broke after Dom was reportedly found on a dating site.
However, it’s been revealed that the two are still sharing a home for the sake of their three children, despite the fact that Dom has recently got a new girlfriend.
Well, as long as everyone’s happy, right?
Susanna, 43, has spoken out to defend what some might brand as an odd decision, explaining that it’s all down to maintaining a happy family life.
Talking to Fabulous magazine, Susanna revealed: “We still get on so well, Dom is still such a hands-on dad and we really co-parent. So we live separately but together and happily in the same house.
“I’m not saying everybody can do it and I definitely think people are surprised that we can do it this way.
“Obviously we’ve been through a bit since splitting up, because a separation is always going to be sad. But it’s nice for the children that they know Mum and Dad are still there.
“I’m privileged to have a great relationship with my ex, to the point where we can live together comfortably and he can have a new relationship.”
Sounds alright to us!
Despite Dominic now dating Adela Straughan, Susanna admitted that she’s not jealous, and is “really happy he’s met a lovely woman.”
SHE’S SO NICE.
At the time of the split, it was heavily claimed that their relationship had fallen privy to the infamous ‘Strictly Curse,’ which has seen a whole load of celebrity couples fall down thanks to sequins and sparkles.
And some intense training sessions, of course.
However, Susanna denies that the show (aka her “parallel universe of sequins and stardust”) was completely to blame for the break-down of her relationship, explaining: “Over 16 years you’re going to change a bit, both of you.
“Would it have happened anyway? I don’t know. I don’t analyse it. It just… The relationship came to an end. (Dominic’s) probably gone through lots of different thought processes.”
The two seem to be in a good place now though, as Susanna revealed they are now proud owners of a “different relationship.”
She told the magazine: “There have been feelings hurt along the way, obviously, but Dom and I had a takeaway together last night, a good chat and he’s a great friend of mine. You don’t throw 16 years away.”
This sounds lovely doesn’t it?
Let’s just hope they can continue to move forward as friends, if just for their children’s sake <3.
