Ratings may not be what bosses were hoping for.
But when it comes to Good Morning Britain’s anchor Susanna Reid, producers couldn’t be happier if her former colleague Matt Barbet is to be believed.
The Five News host, who previously co-hosted BBC Breakfast with Susanna, has told The Sun that ITV bosses will be delighted with her performance on the new breakfast show.
He said: “There’s no doubting ITV will be delighted at having landed her — I think it’s a real coup for them and she will be a long-term success there.”
Barbet, who left Daybreak weeks before it was axed for GMB, also praised Susanna on her skills as a journalist and her ngaging presence.
“There was a survey last year that found Susanna was the most popular breakfast presenter ever,” he explained.
“Having worked with her, I can see why. She had an air of calm about her, and never got flustered.
“And whatever Susanna is doing, she’s engaging.
“She also has tons of journalistic experience and is great at interviewing people — famous or otherwise — so her journalistic prowess is in no doubt.”
Despite leaving BBC Breakfast’s 1.5million viewers for Good Morning Britain’s 600,000, Matt insists that Susanna made the right move.
He added: “Susanna achieved an awful lot at BBC Breakfast, which she presented for many years, so why wouldn’t she want a change of scenery?”
Very good point, Matt. It sounds like the future is bright for Ms. Reid at ITV.
