Happy Birthday Natalie Portman!
As the Garden State and Black Swan actress turns 33 years-old, we’ve picked 11 GREAT (but by no means definitive) reasons to love her.
1. All Powerful Amidala
So she started preeeetty young – with creditable roles in Léon and ..er…Mars Attacks – but we all know that the moment we came to truly love her was when she played the beautifully feisty Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.

2. Curly Cutie
She’s the epitome of ‘Girl Next Door’.
Before she became the elegant swan and face of Dior that we know her to be now, she was just a curly haired cutie from round the block.
3. THAT FACE THOUGH
By jove, does this woman have just the finest face in all of the known earth?!
It doesn’t matter which way she turns or how many pies she crams in over lunch – this is a face that will never suffer a triple chin, nor even the whiff of a pimple.
4. fashion Fails
She’s normal! Or, at least, we can tell ourselves that.
Miss Portman doesn’t always get it right, bless her, and that’s part of her charm.
5. Pink Lady
Guuuurl loves her a bit of pink. And why not?
6. Britney BFF!
Seeing as Ms Spears doesn’t seem to be able to go anywhere these days without some sort of armed cavalry, the fact that Natalie Portman got close enough for a BFF pic is M.A.J.O.R.
7. Bald and BEAUTIFUL
Literally, the girl looks even better WITHOUT hair.
By MazSightHow is that even possible?!
8. She even makes paper aeroplanes look good
Take Bjork’s swan dress, chuck in some origami and you have one hot mess of a dress.
BUT, pop it on Natalie Portman and fug becomes fab in the blink of an eye.
9. Don’t put Portman in the corner
She might look shy and retiring, but girl’s got some serious spunk.
Despite being named as the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume, Israeli-born Natalie spoke out publically against John Galliano, head designer at Dior at the time, following claims of his anti-semitism.
In her statement about it she said:
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
10. On the Down Low
Natalie shows us you don’t need massive, gravity-defying fun bags to be a fan of the low-plunge.

From curly haired cutie to this: the face of Miss Dior Cherie, married to Hunky McBallet-Pants and one stylish specimin of a grown up woman.
