He’s had a rocky relationship with his former bandmates over the years, but are things just about to get even more awkward for Robbie Williams and Take That?
It seems that TT and Robs are going head-to-head in the album charts this week, as they’ve inadvertently released their new records on the SAME DAY.
Yeah, this could get awkward.
While newly-reduced ‘man band’ Take That have been promoting yesterday’s release of ‘III’, Robs decided to spring a big old surprise on fans by releasing his own album, ‘Under the Radar Volume 1′ as well.
Gary has admitted that he had no idea about the clash, telling The Sun: “I only found out about that on Sunday.
“It’s funny, because we have obviously spent a lot of time in the studio with Rob.
“About two years ago he said, ‘I’ve got all these songs and I don’t know what to do with them so I’m going to put them on an album one day’.”
“So it’s not a surprise he’s doing it, but it is a surprise it’s out this week.”
Talk about *seriously* weird timing, guys.
Gary added: “It’s like Blur versus Oasis all over again.”
Er… yeah, okay.
While the digital version of Robbie’s ‘collection of discard and demos’ isn’t out until December 8, we’re pretty sure that the battle to the Christmas number one is well and truly on.
But while they might be going up against each other now, Gary recently hinted that there could be some sort of reunion in the future.
They revealed that the two ex-members of the band would most probably definitely be rejoining TT for their 25th anniversary in 2017.
Speaking of the far too distant for our liking reunion, Howard explained: “We want to do something with the five of us. That will be great.”
Gary added: “It would be nice to put all the music from the Nineties and now on one compilation and do a tour that would have to be bigger.”
Yes, yes it would. Let’s make it happen TODAY please? Thanks.
