Just a year ago she was announcing her shock split from her husband of seven years.
But Tamzin Outhwaite says she’s finally moving on with her life following a traumatic end to her marriage, which saw her husband Tom Ellis accused of cheating.
The former EastEnders actress, who has two daughters with her ex, immediately announced a split and has been busy ‘rebuilding’ her life after being granted a divorce, citing adultery.
Opening up to Good Housekeeping for the first time since her separation, she admitted: “It was a complete shock but we are rebuilding our lives pretty successfully.
“I feel so lucky to have two beautiful children. I am focusing on them and on myself. It’s been a tough year but when things like this happen to you, your resolve and strength of character come through.”
And while she’s putting on a strong front for her children, Tamzin says she still finds some days a struggle.
She added: “I’m not saying I don’t have moments. I’m really trying hard for the sake of my kids to be this extraordinary human being.
“We are rebuilding quite well. I don’t feel unlovable or damaged. I’m thinking about what the possibilities of my future now are.
“I would have done anything to keep my family together but it wasn’t to be. I do feel pretty strong.”
And although she spends most of her time with daughters Florence, five, and Marnie Mae, 20 months, the 43-year-old says she’s starting to finally consider dating someone new – but not until the right person comes along.
She added: “People and situations are seldom what they seem. I’m trying to stay positive as I have two great kids. I’m certainly not feeling bitter, which is great.
“I’m not down on men or thinking I’m never going to get married again. If someone honest and kind came along I think I would be up for it but not right now! Not yet. I want to have a laugh.
“People talk to me about it [dating] but no, it’s not happening yet. But who knows? I’ve always been self-sufficient and never needed a man.”
Tamzin credits her friends and family for helping her through the break-up, admitting that she still turns to them from time to time after a rough day.
She told the magazine: “Some people didn’t mind sitting there listening to me talk and still do.
“It makes you realise who your friends are, which friends you would go into battle with and which ones you don’t mind just going shopping with.
“I feel very lucky to have the love I have in my life – and losing one person doesn’t change that.”
Despite the heartache, Tamzin says she definitely feels “at peace” a year on, adding: “I really am [at peace]. It’s an outlook.
“No one is saying it hasn’t been hard but obviously I go to work every day, doing a job that I love. I wake up with my kids who are beautiful and I’ve got great people around me.
“Sometimes I feel more at peace than I probably have ever been. But sometimes I’m not. It’s about the balance.”
And while she looks stunning in the magazine spread, the New Tricks actress says she’s more than comfortable turning to surgery to keep her looks youthful – if she doesn’t turn out like her mum.
She admitted: “It all moves! I would like something at some stage. I like the idea of looking a little bit better.
“But if I grow older like my mum, I’ll be happy. She’s never touched her face. She has laughter lines but looks lovely.”
