Taylor Swift‘s superfan Emily Beazley has lost her four year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma aged just 12 years old.
Her mum confirmed that she sadly passed away after battling cancer on Monday, just three weeks after she received a heartfelt phone call from her 25-year-old idol.
NBC chicago reports that late on Sunday, Emily’s mum Nadia wrote on Facebook: “My beautiful Emily got to use her angel wings.
“She fought hard to the end. Her last gift to me was passing peacefully.
“It hurts so much to imagine that I will never have another hug or kiss from my girl. Or hear her say ‘Mommy’ the special way that she does. This hurts so damn bad.”
Nadia also asked for privacy during this tough time, adding that a public memorial will be scheduled for a later time. Initial services for the brave girl will be private.
Emily, whose last days were spent painless according to her mum, despite being paralyzed from the waist down, made headlines after her social media supporters, named ‘Emily’s Entourage’, rallied together to get Taylor’s attention.
Their efforts paid off, with Tay giving Emily a call in April.
She told The Chicago Tribune: “She knew all about me. She told me about her tour starting in Tokyo, she asked what my favorite song was, and I told her ‘Shake It Off’. Then she said, ‘Oh, cool’.”
Nadia, told NBC Chicago: “The smile on my daughter [is one] I have not seen in a very, very long time.”
The family were also reportedly offered tickets and a chance to meet the singer at her Detroit concert on May 30.
Emily wanted to help other children like her before she passed away, with one of her pediatric oncologists Dr. Jason Canner telling the site: “Even though she knew it was too late for her, she wanted people to continue to raise money for research. She wanted to help find a cure.”
Our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this tough time.
