Two Taylor Swift fans from Salt Lake City have become the cutest fans ever after revealing that they’ve folded 1989 origami cranes to wish that Tay’s mum will beat cancer.
TayTay and her mum Andrea have been flooded with awesome messages of support since the singer announced the devastating news earlier this month, but it seems these two lovely gals have gone the extra mile to show just how much they love their idol.
Explaining why they did it in an adorable video, Sam and Jo Brady, aged 11 and eight respectively, revealed that they were inspired by a Japanese legend from the book ‘Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes‘. that says you’re granted a wish if you fold 1000 cranes.
The two started the exhausting task of folding around 30 cranes a day back in January, deciding to actually up the ante and fold an incredible 1989 cranes in honour of the 25-year-old’s album, tour and birth year.
How they didn’t get a paper cut we’ll never know.
The Taylor superfans originally started their epic task to wish for some tickets to one of her concerts, but after she announced the heart-breaking news that her mum had been diagnosed with cancer, they changed their minds.
Their mum Laurie told KSL: “They came to me one day and said, ‘You know mum, we want to change our wish. We want to send these cranes to Taylor Swift‘s mom. We think that’s what we should do. That’s more important’.”
In the video, Sam even explains: “We thought that we should probably wish for her to get better and kick cancer’s butt.”
These two are quite probably the nicest, cutest fans we’ve ever seen on the internet (so nice in fact, that we actually got kinda emotional watching their fantastic video), and we so, SO hope Tay sees this.
The girls are now trying to reach out to Taylor and her family to see where to send their cranes to.
THEY’RE SO LOVELY. Someone get them some sort of award for being so thoughtful, please.
