Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) have been on the outs for most of “The Blacklist” Season 2. Liz has been frustrated over Red keeping tabs on her, while Red is upset that Liz is keeping secrets from him. They will have to work together in the next episode of the NBC drama, though, as the synopsis for episode 6, “The Mombasa Cartel,” reveals that they will be faced with a deadly new case.
The synopsis reveals that the new case concerns a group of wildlife poachers who hunt something a little unorthodox – men. Red and Liz will be unraveling a black market ring where people can arrange to hunt another person for sport. The case will be jumpstarted when a mutilated corpse washes up on the shore. While working the case, Agent Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) develops a dangerous habit that could leave him on the sidelines of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Red has been hard at work on a different sort of manhunt. He had been searching for a girl in a photograph that both he and Berlin (Peter Stormare) have who Red insisted was vital in his war with the criminal. In episode 4 Naomi Hyland (Mary Louise-Parker), who had promised Red she would not tell anyone about her, did not know her location either. In episode 5, Red finally managed to track her down in the episode’s final moments. Will fans finally find out her connection to Red?
One thing viewers will find out in episode 6 is Liz’s big secret. For the past two episodes Liz has been visiting a hideout where it is believed she has something hidden behind a locked door. The promo for the new episode reveals that in the next installment fans will finally see what she has been hiding from Red.
