'The Flash' Season 1 Spoilers: One Character Becomes A Killer In Episode 2; What Happened In 'Fastest Man Alive'? [RECAP] Barry Allen (Grant Gustin, right) and Iris (Candice Parker, left) were having issues in their relationship in episode 2 of “The Flash.”  The CW

In the series premiere of “The Flash” on the CW, fans saw Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) become The Flash. In episode 2, titled “Fastest Man Alive,” it was time to see Barry settle in to his new role as a superhero.

The episode began with Barry saving a group of people from a burning building, but when he got back to S.T.A.R. Labs he received a lecture from Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) about exercising restraint with his powers.

Things got interesting when Barry was called back to his day job to investigate a robbery with Joe (Jesse Martin). The security footage showed only one robber, but Barry observed six separate footprints, though they were all the same size.

Barry later accompanies Iris (Candice Patton) to an award event for scientist Simon Stagg (William Sadler) when six gunmen crashed the party to hold everyone up. Barry believed they were the same men from the earlier crime scene and tried to chase them down, but he fainted after experiencing a dizzy spell (the new hero had been having trouble adjusting to his new powers). Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, the team figured out that Barry was not eating enough for his new metabolism.

However, Joe crashed the party at the lab trying to convince Barry to quit. Things got tense when Barry angrily tells Joe that he is not his father and intends to keep going as The Flash.

Meanwhile, fans got a glimpse of one of the gunmen from the robberies, Danton Black (Michael Christopher Smith). He had actually showed up at the event to kill Stagg, but arrived too late. Fans got a surprise when Black revealed to Stagg’s bodyguard (who had tried to help Black) that he had actually been all six gunmen. Black had the ability to clone himself and is another meta-human, the super villain Multiplex.

Back at the station Iris confronted Barry about how distant he had been since waking up from his coma, but their conversation was interrupted when Barry heard that someone was shooting up Stagg’s lab. He raced to the scene where he found Joe there trying to protect Stagg. He got Joe out safely and then went back inside to take on Black and his clones, but had to retreat after nearly getting killed.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs Harrison figured out Black’s identity and found out that Stagg fired Black and stole his research. Barry considers quitting, discourages after the fight at Stagg’s lab, but Harrison encouraged him to stay positive.

Harrison paid a visit to Joe to convince Joe to be supportive. Harrison said doubt is Barry’s real problem and that he needed confidence to take on the new threats.

Meanwhile, Barry met with Iris where he tried to apologize for the way he had been acting. Iris complicated things when she revealed her next journalism endeavor will be tracking down the mysterious red flash that has been showing up around the city. Their conversation was again interrupted when Barry got a call from Caitlin.

At S.T.A.R. Labs Caitlin had grown a replica of one of Black’s clones from DNA found on Barry after their fight. Caitlin discovered that the clones couldn’t operate without orders from Black. If Barry can take out the real Black he could stop all the clones. After Joe showed up to add some extra encouragement Barry was off to Stagg industries.

While fighting Black, Barry learned that Black’s wife had died as a result Stagg stealing his research. An angry Black clones dozens of himself and Barry was having a hard time isolating the real Black. After some intense focus Barry was able to find and take down the original Black, but before he could take him back to S.T.A.R. Labs Black threw himself out a window, seemingly killing himself.  However, with his self-generating cells, it remains a mystery for later in the series.

After the fight, Joe promises to help Barry find out who actually killed his mother. The big twist, though, at the end of the episode came when Harrison (who fans already know has secrets after revealing in the premiere that he was not handicapped) paid a visit to Stagg’s. Stagg vowed to capture the Flash and use his powers. Harrison stood and killed Stagg to keep the Flash’s secret safe.

“The Flash” is sure creating a whole lot of exciting storyline for the rest of the season. New episodes will air on the CW Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT.
