The X Factor’s Mel B Seems To Have Forgotten Where She Came From. Oops.

She’s desperate to show the public that she deserves to be on that panel.

But it’s all got a bit awkward for X Factor judge Mel B, who’s come under fire FROM HER OWN family after she claimed she hails from the same Leeds council estate as contestant Kayleigh Manners.

The ‘B’ family on the other hand aren’t so sure on this one. Can anyone say AWKWARD?

Kayleigh, 23, featured on Saturday’s arena auditions and impressed the judges with her rendition of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, explaining how she drew inspiration from Mel thanks to them both hailing from the same area in Leeds – ‘Harehills.’

Well, kinda.

In a totes emosh video, Kayleigh admitted: “The place where I come from gets quite a bad name. But Mel B was brought up in the same area so it makes you realise people from that place can still make it and get somewhere.”

Thing is, Mel B’s fam are actually quite confused by the whole thing, claiming that Mel in fact grew up in a totally different part of the city.

Confused? You will be.

Talking to the Daily Mirror, her Mum, Andrea, explained: “Melanie was brought up in Harehills? Well, that’s news to us. It’s always been Kirkstall, the other side of town.”

Oops. If that hasn’t made Mel feel quite embarrassed, her sister Danielle also wanted to put her two-penneth in, adding: “That’s what happens when you forget your roots. I might start saying I grew up in Buckingham Palace.”

Would you like some ice for that burn Mel?

Despite now living in LA with her film producer hubby Stephen Belafonte and her three children, Mel has actually been back to said estate when she filmed the documentary ’7 Days on the Breadline.’

During the doc, Mel admitted: ‘I knew a little about what to expect in Harehills because it’s always had a tough reputation.

‘Despite the fact I was born in Leeds and grew up on another council estate in the city, I was shocked by the level of deprivation and the absence of hope I found when I went back to Harehills for the first time in 20 years.’

CAUGHT OUT.

This all comes years after Mel became estranged from her family after renewing her vows with her hubby in 2008. Apparently her family weren’t all that impressed with him, claiming that he was taking her away from them. Ouch.

Things aren’t any better now sadly, with Mel even missing the funeral of her grandma last year thanks to the feud.

HMMM. We’re not sure what to believe on this one. Family being bitter or Mel making a teeny weeny kinda big mistake?

YOU DECIDE.
