She amazed fans when she lost three stone in just six months last year.
But Vicky Pattison‘s weight loss work out DVD, 7 Days Slim, is now facing backlash for its misleading TV advert.
Despite becoming the bestselling celeb Fitness DVD within days of its release (thanks to Vicky’s casual pap-riddled park workouts), the ASA have banned her TV ad for boasting seemingly-impossible results.
One viewer claimed the clip, which features before-and-after pictures of Vicky, misled them into thinking they could lose three stone in just one week.
The TV ad features unflattering snaps of Vicky on the beach, with an excited voiceover telling us: “Here’s Vicky from Geordie Shore before she found 7 Day Slim – now look at her!”
Vicky, looking toned and freshly-spray tanned, then comes prancing on to the screen to add: “I’ve lost three stone with this DVD!”
And while on-screen text sustained that her weight loss was “over six months” and “part of a calorie controlled diet”, one viewer complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that said text wasn’t clear enough and that the weight loss goals seemed impossible.
The ASA said: “We considered that the product name 7 Day Slim implied that results, including results similar to those experienced by Vicky Pattison, would be achieved in seven days.
“We noted the presence of on-screen text stating ‘Weight lost over six months. Works as part of a calorie controlled diet’, including at the point that Vicky Pattison referred to her own weight loss.
“We considered that those factors were likely to be distracting to viewers and impede their ability to read the text, and that the text was not shown on-screen in such a way as to ensure it was clear and legible.
“We were also concerned, however, that the reference to weight having been lost over six months was likely to contradict rather than clarify the claim 7 Day Slim and therefore that the claim could not suitably be qualified in that way.”
Vicky slimmed down from a size 16 to a size 6 by hitting the gym six or seven days every week, as well as following a super strict diet (weight loss is 90% diet, let’s not forget that, people) consisting of mainly soup, green vegetables and grilled chicken.
Her DVD itself boasts the ability to help girls ‘lose up to 5lbs in 7 days’, which she says is down to HiiT (high-intensity interval training).
She told Now: “In the three months it’s taken me to lose weight, I’ve been exercising six or seven times a week. I’ve been doing it in short, intense bursts, rather than massive long workouts.”
But after finally reaching her 8st goal, she says she’s already struggling to keep the weight off and remain a teeny size 6.
She told new!: “It’s a struggle maintaining this body, let alone thinking about losing more weight. It’s a nightmare.”
