London and Birmingham are getting ready to shake it this weekend.
Wireless Festival 2014 starts Friday in London’s Finsbury Park and Birmingham’s Perry Park with a huge line up of some of the biggest names in urban and pop. Whether you’ll be joining us there this weekend or following the action from home (and doing your best chair dance naturally) check out guide below for everything you need to know.
Wireless has become a massive weekend dance party over the last few years. What started out as a heavy rock gathering in Hyde Park has evolved into a neon drenched pop and urban extravaganza. Last year saw duel headliners Jay Z and Justin Timberlake taking the stage separately before joining together on the Sunday night, this year we’re getting Bruno Mars, Kanye West and Rudimental (so they’re pretty much spoiling us). Sadly Drake, who was down to make headline appearances over the weekend, has had to pull out due to illness.
We’ve mentioned Kanye and Bruno (both of which are basically unmissable) and they’ll be joined by the likes of Rudimental, Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding, Pharrel Williams, Outkast John Newman, Azalea Banks, Robin Thicke, Knife Party and more. We actually got a little bit giddy typing that list out and it’s barely scratching the surface. In other words no matter where you go on the festival site you’ll always be within five minutes of throwing your hands in the air like you just don’t care and dancing like no one’s watching (the best way to dance by the by). Check out the full line-up here.
Act you definitely can’t miss?
The obvious answer with the headliners is Kanye West, let’s be honest. You want to hear Gold Digger and Bound 2, we want to hear Gold Digger and Bound 2 live. Let’s all make sure this happens. For the rest of the line-up we’d have to pick out current Queen of the Summer Iggy Azalea, who just seems to be getting bigger and better with each single she puts out. Standing in a massive crowd while bellowing ‘I’M SO FANCY, YOU ALREADY KNOW’ will likely be your moment of the summer.
What’s the weather meant to be like?
We’ve consulted the all knowing Yahoo! Weather App (the most beautiful way to read the weather out there) and here’s what it told us. Birmingham is going to be wet and wild so bring wellies and a mac while London will be a little less wet but still cloudy (actually probably a good idea to just bring wellies and macs to any festival regardless of what the weather says – DID YOU SEE THE RAIN AND MUD AT GLASTO!?).
Can you still get tickets?
Single day tickets for Saturday in London are sold out but otherwise you should still be able to get yourself in! Click here for Wireless tickets.
