If you were watching The X Factor‘s results show on Sunday night, you will have seen Cheryl Fernandez-Versini kicking off at her supposed BFF Mel B over her decision to keep Stereo Kicks in the competition.
If you missed it, just watch Mean Girls and you’ll get the general drift.
Anyway, whilst we were obviously hoping that the two hugged it out and just moved on with their lives, it turns out things aren’t that simple.
Then again, when are they EVER that simple when it comes to an X Factor-related feud?!
On the show, 39-year-old Mel made the decision to send 31-year-old Cheryl’s act, Lauren Platt, home over Louis Walsh‘s boyband, which infuriated the former Girls Aloud singer thanks to comments made in previous weeks.
She made a sassy side-comment to Scary Spice, saying: “I find it amazing that the critiques have been a certain way over the last few weeks, then it comes to this part and it changes, that amazes me.”
That’s reality TV for you, pet.
According to reports in The Sun however, the feud continued when the cameras were switched off, with Mel apparently mouthing “you what?” to Chezza.
It didn’t go unnoticed that the two sat at completely opposite ends of the Xtra Factor sofa too, which is particularly strange since they normally spend the interview hugging and ganging up on Simon together.
Anyone else hear those alarm bells ringing?
Mel DID try to gain back Chez’s affections, explaining her decision on the show by saying: “I had to follow my heart even though it was Cheryl’s girl and I’m all about girl power.”
Alas, t’was not meant to be, as sources have told the paper that their friendship is more of a Titanic than a Queen Mary at the moment.
They said: “Over the years there have been a lot of rumours of spats between the judges. Some have been serious, others have been blown out of proportion.
“But what happened between Cheryl and Mel B on Sunday night was real. In Cheryl’s opinion, Mel completely went back on everything she has been saying all series about Lauren and Stereo Kicks.
“Cheryl was livid that Mel turned on her act and the fact she called her out in front of millions shows just how angry she was. But Mel is more than capable of standing up for herself and when the camera’s stopped rolling, she pulled Cheryl up straight away. That led to a really frosty moment between the two of them.”
Ouch. They added: “Then they refused to sit next to each other on the Xtra Factor and when they finished filming they both stormed off to their dressing rooms. Cheryl is really angry about this.
“The viewers are often sceptical about whether the judges care about their acts, but they really do.
“Mel and Cheryl got on really well at the start of the series, but it will take a while before they are back on good terms.”
Considering how much we were LOVIN’ their wo-mance, we’re definitely gutted that this has come about, and we’re hoping we won’t see another game of this on Saturday:
Meanwhile, not wishing to be left out of the drama like a kid in the playground, Louis has also aimed some anger at Simon Cowell, with a source admitting he’s “p***ed off” that Si sent SK home.
Perhaps you could spend your vacant mentoring time fixing #Meryl, LouLou?
Just a thought.
