We were all a little confused when we heard the difference between Chloe Jasmine‘s accent on this year’s X Factor compared to her 2006 audition.
But now the wannabe star – who was booted off of the show on Sunday night *sob* – has explained just why her pretty standard accent turned SUPER POSH in just eight years.
Talking on The Xtra Factor after the results, the 24-year-old insisted that this really the way she speaks and she was just too scared to be herself before.
SOD THE HATERS, CHLO!
She said: “I think I’ve actually redeemed myself, I came in and I’ve been completely myself.
“I used to hide my accent because I was teased for it and I just don’t want to be that person anymore.”
Yes, Chloe. We’re loving this!
She added: “I’m proud of who I am. Do you really think that I could pretend to do this constantly? I’d have to be some kind of genius.”
The singer, who lost out in the sing-off to eight-piece boyband Stereo Kicks, seemed pretty upbeat about the fact that she was out of the show – POSITIVE POWER, YEAH CHLOE!
She told Sarah-Jane Crawford: “I feel wonderful, I honestly did not think that I would get past the first audition and now I’m like ‘oh my God’, I made it to the live shows.
“I really don’t consider myself a vocalist so I was amazed that they liked the sound of my voice.”
Well, that kind of was the point of the whole thing, to be fair.
Chloe basically seemed like a completely different person during her audition back in 2006, being told by Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne that she had no real identity.
Simon told her: “It’s like you’ve been bred in a laboratory as some music creation… a second of Mariah, a second of Christina and nothing came out right.”
At least this time she was herself… and we reckon it’s not the last we’ve seen of CJ!
