The X Factor 2015 could be taking a seriously unexpected turn if Katie Waissel’s latest cryptic tweet is anything to go by.
The 28-year-old caused controversy back when she competed on the show in 2010, alongside the likes of One Direction and Wagner, when she proved herself to be a rash that just wouldn’t go away being saved from elimination time and again by the four judges.
Once Katie left the show she was less than complimentary about her time on there, and even dubbed her former mentor, Cheryl, “disgusting” and “nasty” after Chezza claimed she only took her through to the lives finals because she knew that she would make good TV.
So when the singer popped up on our screens on Saturday night, in a bizarre display of the weird and wonderful contestants of yesteryear, we were more than a little surprised – especially when she appeared to very obviously mouth “You owe me” to Simon Cowell mid-way through her performance.
Well, Katie has since taken to Twitter to cryptically hint that Simon isn’t just going to send her a box of chocolates and bottle of prosecco to thank her for taking part in this year’s final, oh no, she has seemingly suggested that she has nabbed herself A SEAT ON THE ACTUAL JUDGING PANEL for next year’s show.
Katie wrote to her 200K followers: “Bye Bye London!! See y’all on the other side…. #seeyounextyear #confirmed #chair”

And although we are aware that there are many more chairs in London than the four coveted judges chairs, we can’t help but think that this is a definite reference to the ITV show, given the context.
Could Katie be taking Cheryl’s prize spot next to the 55-year-old music mogul?
Because given Katie and Cheryl’s tempestuous history, we don’t think that the ‘I Don’t Care’ hitmaker will be too pleased.
In fact, we reckon she will care a LOT.
Of course there is a big, big chance that Katie is simply trolling us all and trying to nab herself some more column inches off the back of her brief reappearance on prime time telly, but amidst reports that The X Factor is struggling in the ratings department we wouldn’t be too surprised if Simon and co. resorted to desperate measures to up their viewing figures.
And Cheryl and Katie slagging eachother off for three months is definitely one way to go about it.
