*Literal use of word
If you know that your favourite boy in Stereo Kicks is ‘that one in the boots’ but you don’t know his name then… well it’s not surprising really, there are about 300 of them.
But since Stereo Kicks are actually very good (in our top three, FYI, that Bootcamp performance made us cry) and rumour has it that Louis Walsh is about to boot (or perhaps ‘laced up smart shoe’) a few of them out of the competition, it’s time we got to know their names.
Mostly so that if we do have to vote for who to keep in the band, our campaign posters don’t say things like ‘SAVE, ER, THE ONE WITH THE EARRING.’
James Graham, AKA The Tall Intense One
You know the one: beautiful voice, goes into a kind of trance with his eyes closed when he has solos? Yeah that’s 18-year-old Essex boy James. Watch his room audition and we challenge you not to get an arm goosebump. Hell even Simon got an arm goosebump, although he did have a ridiculous amount of shirt buttons undone so that could have been the chill.
How likely is he to get kicked out? The 18-year-old is the lead singer so even taking into account Louis Walsh’s penchant for weird decisions, not a chance.
Reece Bibby, AKA The One With The Ridiculously Young Dad
You might remember 16-year-old Reece Bibby from the auditions, when he brought a dad who looked about 22 and Dermot thought that he might be old enough to be Reece Bibby’s dad’s dad, and that was funny. Or, like us, you might just remember him because you like saying his surname over and over again. Bibby! Such a good word.
How likely is he to get kicked out? So-so. Hugely talented and seriously – who could bear to make that smiley face sad? Though rumours that it’s the youngest ones that are out don’t go in his favour…
Casey Johnson, AKA The Hot One
OK SORRY. We are shallow, predictable people who when watching two and a half hours of people singing on Saturday nights, want the odd one of them to be a looker. You won’t be surprised to hear that in his first audition, Mel B categorically agreed with us, telling her fellow judges that 19-year-old Casey was “gorgeous”. A woman of taste.
How likely is he to get kicked out? We’ve not seen much of him so far so if the band do split, he has to be in trouble, sadly. Watch our for Mel B walking up and down the studios in her bra waving a placard though.
Chris Leonard, AKA The One Who Backchatted Cheryl
After Cheryl compared Stereo Kicks – unfavourably – to One Direction in the first live week, 19-year-old Irish boy Chris (who auditioned with another band last series) told her that Stereo Kicks are “not One Direction.” You’ll have also seen him on Twitter. In a selfie with Niall from One Direction.
How likely is he to get kicked out? Again, we haven’t seen loads of him. On the other hand, he is Irish, with Louis Walsh as a mentor, which does tend to work out well for some people. How are Jedward?
Tom Mann, AKA The Cute One
If you tend to go for clean-cut, cute boys and you fancy one of Stereo Kicks but have no idea what his name is, it’s probably Tom Mann. 20-year-old Tom was rejected the year before at Bootcamp and at this year’s audition, told Louis that he had “broken my heart.”
How likely is he to get kicked out? Might have been at risk as he’s not one of the lead singers, but does Louis have it in him to break the same heart TWICE?
Jake Sims, AKA The One With The Big Holes In His Ears
The other one who Louis Walsh is categorically banned from sacking, for us, is 19-year-old Jake Sims, AKA he of the giant earrings, and – awkward – he of the recently leaked nude photo. For starters, Jake’s little sister Sydney – who judged alongside Simon in his first audition – would cry, and secondly… er, so will we.
How likely is he to get kicked out? Extremely unlikely. He takes a lot of lead vocals, plus in a sea of baby faces, Jake gives Stereo Kicks their edge. He didn’t do that to his ears for nothing, people.
Charlie Jones, AKA The One Who Looks Terrified
Well of course he looks terrified, to be fair, he is 14, and knowing Louis Walsh’s preoccupation with people’s ages, he probably does remind the youngest Stereo Kicks’ member of that rather frequently. Charlie has impressive credentials though: Simon thought he was so good that he put him through without even letting the others vote in his room audition.
How likely is he to get kicked out? Likely. While there’s no doubting his voice is good, being so young has meant he’s not had much attention and looks at times quite… alarmed by the whole thing.
Barclay Beales, AKA The One Who Looked Familiar
And why did he look familiar? Because he was the one who yodelled and made Nicole get all frisky, that’s why. WE KNOW. We hadn’t realised it was him either. But there you go, the 19-year-old yodeller is now a Stereo, er, Kicker, following his return to the show after being kicked out at Bootcamp last year.
How likely is he to get kicked out? It’s unlikely but possible. Barclay has a good following and – like all the boys – is a cracking singer but he hasn’t had quite as much exposure as some of the others. Which sounds like we’re talking about Jake’s naked photo but we’re not.
