After seven weeks of quite frankly incredible performances, Stevi Ritchie was finally given the boot from the X Factor this weekend.
We won’t lie, it still hurts.
But as it turns out, Stevi’s decision to enter the show in the first place didn’t come from his love of singing but, in fact, his love of Simon Cowell.
Speaking to Yahoo Celebrity, Stevi explained: “I entered, genuine reason, and Simon can vouch for me because I said this during our infamous Harvester meal.
“I said to him ‘I came on for you Simon’. I genuinely wanted to meet Simon because I love the guy. I idolise him.
“So when he came back I was like ‘let’s do this for a laugh, I could meet Simon, I could not’. But never in a million years did I think I’d make it to the live shows let alone week 7 of 10.
“I knew I wasn’t going to win in a million years. I was the underdog throughout. I was happy to be last wildcard standing.”
As for whether he reckons he’ll be landing a lucrative recording contract, Stevi is somewhat pragmatic about his chances.
“I’ll be honest with you, the chances of getting a record deal are very steep,” he admitted.
“I’d love to [have one] but my album would probably end up in a 99p bargain bin at Sainsburys.
“I’d like to do some TV presenting, maybe Children’s TV. I’d also love to get into musicals. I love all that. My agent is trying to set things up. I’m going to get some media training so I can do some presenting like Rylan. That would be amazing.”
