Another day, another rumour about who could be joining The X Factor 2015‘s judging panel – and this one might just surprise you.
After reports that Demi Lovato was ‘in talks’ with Simon Cowell for a place on the panel, and last weekend’s rumours that Louis Walsh is getting the sack (*SOB*), it’s NOW being claimed that Nick Grimshaw could find his name painted on one of the infamous judging seats.
And y’know what? It’s a YES from us.
Reports claim that the 30-year-old BBC Radio 1 DJ could be brought in to help shake up the show and boost its ratings as it continues to compete with BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Grimmy has apparently already been in secret talks with X Factor bosses and is close to signing a deal with them, after a show insider told The Sun that there was a “95 per cent chance” that he’ll be “stood down” for this year’s competition.
Nothing’s fine, we’re torn.
A BBC source told The Mirror: “Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show.
“He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges.
“Louis has been a great servant to the show but he is out of touch now compared to up and coming stars like Grimmy. The hope is Grimmy can come in and Louis will leave.
“There are complications because Grimmy has a Radio 1 contract with the BBC and will be working for ITV too. But everyone seems confident something can be worked out.
“The BBC will have mixed emotions. On one hand, he will be on ITV, on the other, it will raise the profile even more of his breakfast show on Radio 1.”
Oh just IMAGINE the celebs that he could get to help him in some swanky judge’s house. HIYA Harry Styles.
These new rumours come after a show insider revealed that there’s a large chance Louis’ face won’t be gracing our screens this winter. BUT HOW WILL WE FIND THE JEDWARDS OF THE world??
The insider told The Sun: “They are close friends so Simon wanted to do this in the right way. He didn’t want to leave the discussion to executive producer Richard Holloway because that backfired so badly when he sacked Cheryl Fernandez-Versini from X Factor USA in 2011.
“So Simon spoke to Louis and told him that it’s 95 per cent certain that he’ll be ‘stood down’ this year.
“Viewers had become sick of Louis’s constant use of tired clichés and the same old jokes. He’d been doing it for 11 years and it seemed like he was just going through the motions.”
Oh come ON. We all secretly LOVE those jokes.
In most optimistic news, a close friend of LouLou has apparently told the Irish Daily Mail that all this talk of a sacking is “100 per cent” not true.
They said: “This story appeared on Sunday and said that Louis was axed by Simon. The truth is that Simon did phone Louis but did not fire him from the show. He told him that he was in the mix but that his job was not guaranteed.
“That has always been the way with Louis and Simon. There is a short list of about four people to take the remaining two judging slots and Louis is part of that list.”
Wake us up when this is all over, please.
