Ever since Olly Murs and Caroline Flack were confirmed as the shiny new hosts of The X Factor, we have been excitedly waiting to find out just what kind of presenters they will be on the big, main, ITV show.
Will they be dancing-dad-Dermot O’Learys? Lovable scamps like Ant ‘n’ Dec? Or plain ol’ Olly and Cazza from The Xtra Factor?
Well, we can now reveal that although they might be keeping their cheeky, cool, and collected personas for the most part, it doesn’t mean that judges should think that they are in for an easy ride – with Olly vowing to defend the contestants against any nasty comments because, after all, he has been there before.
Catching up with the 31 year old at Radio 1′s Big Weekend, Olly explained to us: “One of the main reasons I took the job was because I knew what the contestants were going through.
“I’ll be giving the judges a lot of grief if they are nasty to the contestants on stage, because I have been there.
“I know they all have the same dreams and aspirations that I had when I started this, so being the presenter, for me, is the best part.
“I’ll be the big hugs, the kisses, the cuddles – and maybe I’ll even throw a few shapes.”
Hold on a sec, if we audition for The X Factor we’ll get a kiss and a cuddle from actual Olly Murs?! Errrm, excuse us while we make a few calls….
The singer also told us that his past experience as a contestant was the reason why he didn’t want to fill one of the prestigious spots on the judging panel, adding: “I didn’t really want to be a judge, but presenting the show gave me the opportunity to be the sixth judge, as the fifth is always the audience.
“I’ll be a judge for the contestants behind the scenes and mentor them. If I had to tell the contestants ‘that was rubbish’, I just couldn’t do it.”
But one person that Olly DOES think can do it is the hotly-rumoured Radio 1 DJ, Nick Grimshaw.
Speaking about Grimmy, the star shared: “I think he’ll be great, he’s a great personality, very outspoken and is involved in music – he ticks all the boxes for me.
“You don’t have to be an artist to judge, Louis, Sharon and Simon aren’t artists – just being involved in music gives something different.
“It’s strange if he does do it, he’s the presenter and I’m the singer so we have done a bit of a role reversal.
“And for us as presenters, it’s going to be great to have people we get on well with around us, so I think it’ll be good for us!”
And for us too, Olly – and by the sound of things, if rumours are true then ‘Nilly’ is going to fast become our fave bromance on the telly.
WE. CAN’T. BLOOMIN’. WAIT.
