Just in case singing in front of one of the X Factor judges, a celeb guest and a giant swimming pool wasn’t enough to make contestants wee themselves a little bit, Simon Cowell wants to introduce a brand new element of fear to judges’ houses.
MAKING IT ALL LIVE. Live in front of the judges, live in front of viewers, live in front of the ENTIRE world. Including our grandma.
Good luck, everybody.
According to reports, SiCo wants a major format shake-up for this year’s series, and as well as Olly Murs and Caroline Flack taking over as hosts and WHO KNOWS WHO joining the panel, more of the show could end up NOT being pre-recorded.
The judges’ house section could potentially be broadcast live from four totally different corners of the world, which we’re guessing will be even more exotic than last year’s choices of LA, Mexico, France, and Ireland.
A show source told The Mirror: “Cowell wants to increase the drama and tension of the moment contestants are told they’ve got through.
“Judges’ houses has always been one of the most talked about and watched parts of the series, and one idea being discussed is to make these episodes live. It would be an exciting innovation and make for real event TV.
“It’s going to be expensive as it will require four entire camera crews and teams for all four locations.
“There are lots of logistical and practical concerns to work through before we can go ahead, but Cowell thinks it will be worth it.”
Yeah, probably need to work on the whole ‘MAJOR TIME DIFFERENCE’ thing, but other than that, we’re definitely feeling this.
Even if we do have to stay awake until midnight to see what crazy outfit Sinitta will be wearing this time.
However, the source added that production are currently “ironing out the details” to see if it will all work.
A spokesman for X Factor has also said: “There will be a number of changes to this year’s X Factor but it’s too early to confirm what these will be at this stage.”
This year has already faced more rumours than we’ve faced hangovers, with the latest being that Nick Grimshaw could grab a place on the judging panel.
A BBC source told The Mirror: “Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show.
“He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges.
“Louis has been a great servant to the show but he is out of touch now compared to up and coming stars like Grimmy. The hope is Grimmy can come in and Louis will leave.
“There are complications because Grimmy has a Radio 1 contract with the BBC and will be working for ITV too. But everyone seems confident something can be worked out.
“The BBC will have mixed emotions. On one hand, he will be on ITV, on the other, it will raise the profile even more of his breakfast show on Radio 1.”
All we really know if that a) we’d quite happily offer up our own house to any one of the judges. NOT LIKE THAT. And b), if they don’t fancy accepting our offer of free pot noodles all round, we’d quite like to bagsy a front row seat at one of their own swanky houses for the live feed. Please.
