We’ve always wanted to see one of the One Direction boys comeback to their X Factor homeland in some way, shape or form (probably Louis Tomlinson as a judge because SASS), so when we heard whisperings that Zayn Malik could be joining the judging panel, we were more than a little elated.
Sadly however, the Bradford lad’s rep has stepped forward to DENY the reports that the shouty X Factor announcer will be saying his name every week, calling the rumours “a complete fabrication.”
We’re more gutted than a fish to be honest.
It all started when a source claimed that Simon Cowell was looking to sign up Zayn for the show to try and boost ratings, despite Louis T being the favourite to nab a spot on the panel.
The source told The Daily Star: “Simon has told Zayn he’d make a great judge and it’s him rather than Louis he really wants. Louis and the other boys will be touring next year, too.
“The last thing Simon wants is another shock, so he’s keeping Zayn very close now and knows about all his projects.”
Errrrr, pretty sure adding Zayn TO the judging panel would be a (VERY WELCOME AND HAPPY) shock, what with the whole ‘being a normal 22-year-old’ thing, but sure.
However, a spokesperson then rubbished the rumours, confirming to MailOnline that: “It’s a complete fabrication, this story is complete nonsense.”
WAH. We’re not sure if we’re happier that people aren’t trying to chuck Zayn right back into more exhausting work after his non-stop schedule from the past few years, or whether we’re more gutted his beautiful face won’t be on our screens every weekend later this year.
Sidenote: We could really do with some more male eye candy on the show (aside from Olly Murs, obvs), so if bosses could sort that out, it would be great, thanks.
Trying to wade through all of this year’s rumours about who will and won’t be on a judge on X Factor is a bit like trying to wade through an ocean of quicksand, with everyone from Demi Lovato and Nick Grimshaw reported to be signing up.
A source recently told The Mirror: “Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show.
“He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges. Louis has been a great servant to the show but he is out of touch now compared to up and coming stars like Grimmy.
“The hope is Grimmy can come in and Louis will leave.”
It was also claimed that Louis Walsh had been sacked from the show, although he later denied this, claiming he’d neither been fired nor hired for the next series.
Ay caramba. We hardly know if we’re coming or going with this show these days, so if someone could just make a decision about the judges soon, we’d be very happy bunnies.
