When X Factor‘s Cheryl Fernandez-Versini married new beau Jean-Bernard, we doubt she realised just how much ruddy drama it was going to cause.
Having already had major beef with X Factor comedian Ian Royce when he referred to her as Cheryl Cole, you’d think everyone would take note and learn the proper pronounciation.
Since no-one seems to have learnt their lesson, the 31-year-old has been on another wee rant basically telling us all to buck up our ideas and just learn the blinkin’ thing.
Consider ourselves told. Although, to be fair, a surname with around 65 syllables is always going to be a tricky one. Jus’ sayin’.
Looking GORGEOUS on the cover of December’s Marie Claire, the X Factor judge had some harsh words for he who dares ignore her new married name.
Speaking to the magazine, she spoke of embracing her new French parts and her feelings towards others who can’t imagine themselves at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
She said: “It’s come quite naturally, you know. People are so ignorant about it, they just start calling us Cheryl, but I’ll take that, whatever.”
We think Cheryl on its own is actually quite catchy, but that’s just us.
Oh, and Simon Cowell, who jokingly said she only married into a difficult surname so that she could become one of those pop stars with one name. Predictably, she was NOT impressed. Naturally.
She replied: “Yeah on purpose, so I could be like Madonna? See how his brain works. I mean, who even thinks like that?”
Definitely not us.
If you’ve been watching The X Factor as religiously as us, you probably would’ve been cringing over the many, MANY arguments Chez and Simon have got into this series, most notably when he decided to call her ‘Kermit’ for an entire episode, which definitely wasn’t funny AT ALL.
Shedding some light on their friendship gone sour, Chezza revealed that she’s actually taken to ignoring him, which makes sense really.
She admitted: “In the early days I’d get phone calls if I wore a t-shirt in one of the VTs, where he’d be like, ‘What the bloody hell were you wearing?’
“He wears the same moth eaten t-shirt he’s worn for six years and he’s calling up about what I’m wearing?! The moment Simon Cowell appreciates what I wear then that’s when I’ll worry.”
Fair point really.
We’re off to learn how to pronounce her new name now. The things we do for celebs, aye?
