Whilst we’ve all been busy fannying around over who’ll be on the panel for this years X Factor, we’re all forgetting the other important hire that’ll be sending the HR department at Syco into a tizz this year – who the heck is going to be presenting the Xtra Factor?!
Well there’s a whole host of names being bandied around now, after Sarah-Jane Crawford announced that she was leaving the hit ITV2 show after just one series.
And you’ll never guess who’s in the running – none other than Big Brother winner and former presenter Brian Dowling.
According to those eager beavers over at The Sun, Brian impressed the producers when he screen-tested for the gig earlier this week.
The chirpy Irishman had to interview X Factor icons 2 Shoes (amazing), as well as having to endure quite the grilling from show bosses.
But it’s not a guaranteed done-deal for Brian just yet – he’s up against a whole host of other names, including former Pop Idol contestants Sam and Mark, KISS FM duo Ricky and Melvin – as well as This Morning presenter and all-round hot Welshman Matt Johnson.
An elusive show insider told the paper that: “The folk at ITV are big fans of Brian. His test went well and he did a very entertaining interview with former X Factor act 2SHOES.”
“It’s vital to them that the show is in safe hands, so having pros like Brian or Sam and Mark on board is appealing.”
The producers have also thrown a bit of a curveball into the hiring process, by approaching a shed-load of Youtubers – including Jim Chaplin and Joe Sugg - for the much-coveted presenting gig too.
Keen to get ‘young people’ on board with this year’s show, the show is hoping that the millions of subscribers shared between the vlogging hot-shots will be tuning into the show every weekend.
The mysterious show insider said: “They are keen to attract a younger audience, and wanted to see how the cool young vloggers [YES THEY ACTUALLY JUST SAID 'COOL YOUNG VLOGGERS'] would come across on screen.”
“They think hiring Jim, Joe or Rose and Rosie could appeal to the young audience – It’s wide open at the moment and they could even test more potential presenters in the coming weeks.”
Hmm, interesting choices – BUT JUST MAKE A FRIGGIN’ DECISION ALREADY SIMON.
