After a video emerged of Harry Styles crying on stage just hours before it was announced that Zayn Malik had quit One Direction (even if he was hit with a glowstick), another video has popped up showing Zayn himself crying on stage during his last performance with the band.
And yes, you will need your tissues for this one.
In the Vine taken from the boys’ Hong Kong gig on March 18, the 22-year-old can be seen singing with tears in his eyes and generally looking quite sad.
Which in turn is making us feel, look and generally be very, very sad and want to hug him in blankets and give him lots of ice cream.
As well as the video that’s destroying our hearts, this photo of Zayn crying at the gig has also been doing the rounds on Twitter and we just cannot even right now.
According to a review in the South china Morning Post, Zayn “seem apathetic” during the gig and “struggled to smile even once.”
Seriously, can someone bring us an extra large box of tissues and something to bend our broken hearts, please? Thanks.
Zayn’s uncle has spoken out about the departure, explaining that he only made the decision to leave on Wednesday, the day the news broke.
Replying to fans in some now-deleted tweets, Zayn’s uncle wrote: “Let me be clear this decision was not planned, it’s circumstance.
“Zayn had not decided to leave months ago, he has decided this now.
“Let me be VERY CLEAR, Zayn decided today.”
He then went on to hint that Zayn was struggling with fame even more than we thought, sharing: “He has been suffering from severe stress for months. It has resulted in his decision [to] leave 1D.
“Stress and feeling depressed can kill. People need to understand his health is more important.”
A very valid point that makes our hearts hurt, a lot.
We really do hope Zayn and the four remaining members of One Direction (that hurts to type) are doing okay, and if they need a shoulder to cry on, we’ll be ready.
